The heart of our organization comes from the desire to nourish and empower our community by feeding local youth and seniors, educating families on the vital role of nutrition in mental, physical, and hormonal health, and connecting local donors and agricultural resources to build a stronger, healthier future for all.
We are addressing several interconnected challenges within our community:
food insecurity among youth and seniors,
limited access to affordable and nutritious food options,
and the lack of centralized, convenient access to locally produced food.
Additionally, we aim to bridge the gap between individuals and the resources available to them by creating avenues for community connection. This includes fostering collaboration among local farmers who no longer have traditional gathering spaces—such as feed or general stores—to share equipment, knowledge, and support. Our work is focused on rebuilding these vital connections and ensuring that both food and resources are accessible, affordable, and community-driven.
Our work is deeply rooted in biblical values that call us to care for one another, especially the most vulnerable among us. In Matthew 25:35, Jesus reminds us, “I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,” a powerful call to action that inspires our mission to feed local youth and seniors facing food insecurity. We also believe in the importance of health and wholeness, honoring the truth of 1 Corinthians 6:19, which teaches that our bodies are temples and should be cared for with intention — something we promote through nutrition education and wellness support.
Beyond meeting physical needs, we strive to reconnect and rebuild community ties, reflecting the spirit of Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, which says, “Two are better than one… if either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” Whether it’s farmers sharing equipment or neighbors exchanging local goods, we believe in the strength of collaboration. Finally, we see all of this as an act of faithful stewardship, guided by 1 Peter 4:10: “Use whatever gift you have received to serve others.” Our goal is to help every person and every resource in our community find a purpose that serves the greater good.
The Storehouse operates as a support system and avenue for logistics on behalf of local nonprofits. The Storehouse helps facilitate, organize and distribute goods donated and gathered from local nonprofits, charities, and farms. Some of our community partners include Churches, local agriculture and food establishments, and food banks.
In as much as the Storehouse helps improve, strengthen, and expand these charitable organizations’ donations and resources, the Storehouse relies just as much on the support of the community through these organizations. In this way, we are able to help get healthy, local food to the community and those in need.
It has been said; “A house divided will not stand.” Our mission stands firm with local Community Partnerships:
The Storehouse does not utilize or source from Tarrant Area Food Bank. The food bank is a great cause that helps the community through local distribution channels like Wise Area Relief Mission (W.A.R.M). Due to heavy demand, they must source their donations from large distribution sites, also, the Food Banks must limit distributions to only a couple times a month. We are cautious not to deplete these very tight resources any further than they are currently. On the contrary, we aim to supplement and increase healthy, local food sources to these groups in our community. We will continue to support this organization through community education and fundraising.
Meals on Wheels is another such organization that does an incredible service for our community that we support through fundraising and educating the community on the increasing need. Our elderly population here in Wise County continues to increase and it is our responsibility to help provide for them.
Two major community contributors that play a vital role in the Storehouse resource acquisition and distribution are Fam Food and The Kerr Jar.
Where can you eat a meal that has an IMPACT on your family, an IMPACT on local families in need, and an IMPACT on international families in need?
We don’t just say we want to have an impact. It is at the core of everything we do. We want to provide a great service to our community, and also love the less fortunate in our community and world as well.
Our focus on having an impact can even be seen in our logo. The infinity sign in our logo is meant to remind us that there is much more to this life than what we see right in front of us. It is easy to get caught up in our little world and our busy schedules. We believe we are designed by a creator that made us to live for eternity. The way we live our lives here determines our eternity, and we want to live, love, and even do business in such a way that has an eternal impact on other people’s lives. Please reach out to us if you would like to learn more about how this infinity sign and thinking about eternity drives everything we say and do.
Your Personal FAMILY IMPACT: For your family we strive to provide something that is quality, healthy, convenient, affordable (except everything is expensive nowadays), with lots of options, and even a conversation piece for your family to talk about having an IMPACT in our world.
Local FAMILY IMPACT: When purchasing a meal from Famfood, you are providing support for children on the weekend and on holidays that depend on school meals during the week. We are able to do this by supporting organizations like Feeding Wise Kids. Learn more about Feeding Wise Kids here.
International FAMILY IMPACT: When purchasing a meal from Famfood, you are providing a day worth of food, education, and support for a child in Honduras. We are able to do this by supporting a feeding center in Honduras through Impact Others. Learn more about Impact Others here.
About The Kerr Jar: Who We Are
Mission Statement:
At The Kerr Jar, our mission is to nourish and empower our community by addressing food insecurity among youth and seniors, promoting the vital role of nutrition in overall well-being, and rebuilding the local connections that help communities thrive. Through meal distribution, education, and partnerships with local farmers and donors, we aim to foster a resilient, compassionate, and health-conscious community — guided by Christian values of stewardship, compassion, and service.
The Need: Why Our Work Matters Now
The Kerr Jar was founded in response to growing, overlapping challenges in our region: rising food insecurity, lack of access to nutritious and affordable food, and a loss of local infrastructure that once connected people to the resources they needed. As the cost of living continues to rise and post-pandemic effects linger, families, youth, and seniors are finding it increasingly difficult to meet their basic nutritional needs.
Our work is urgently needed now more than ever — not only to provide food, but to restore the kind of community collaboration that once defined small-town resilience. In areas where general stores and feed stores are no longer the local gathering place, The Kerr Jar stands as a new hub for connection, care, and support.
Who We Serve
We focus on youth and elderly populations in communities where economic hardship is most pronounced — specifically those areas where:
These groups are especially vulnerable to hunger, chronic health issues, and social isolation — and they are at the heart of our mission.

Throughout history, the most lasting progress has come from communities that embraced values rooted in compassion, shared responsibility, and faith. Societies have grown stronger by feeding the hungry (Matthew 25:35), honoring the health and dignity of every person (1 Corinthians 6:19), and building systems of support that reflect the belief that “two are better than one” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). From early Christian communities sharing resources, to faith-led health and food movements, these principles have driven everything from public health advancements to social justice reform. When people live out the call to use their gifts to serve others (1 Peter 4:10), they don’t just help individuals — they transform entire communities. These are the same timeless values that guide our work today.

We deeply honor if you’re already giving generously overseas — that reflects the heart of Christ and the Great Commission. We believe Scripture also calls us to care for our own communities, right where we live. The Kerr Jar exists not as part of the industrial food system, but as a grassroots, faith-driven effort to meet urgent needs locally — feeding, teaching, and reconnecting people in ways that reflect biblical love and stewardship.
Why local giving matters — biblically:
So while global giving is vital, we believe local ministry is equally biblical. At The Kerr Jar, we’re simply asking: What would it look like to care for the overlooked right here at home? To restore dignity to seniors, hope to families, and health to children? To live out the gospel not just in word, but in deed — right here in our backyard?
If you’re moved by compassion, justice, and the call to serve, we’d love for you to consider how your faith could impact both the world and your neighborhood.
